Kampong Chhnang is a beautiful and serene city. Kampong Chhnang is a province where is well-known for its fine pottery. Kampong Chhnang means ‘Port of Pottery “. People of this province specialty is making pots, vase and other types of ceramics during the farming seasons.

A long ways for driving about two hours from Phnom Penh, I arrive my friend’s house in Kampong Chhnang. We come here to meet up for a long time never meet and we plan to do an ox cart tour and visit Kompong Tralach Ler Pagoda which is a national heritage of Cambodia. A quick relax at my friend’s house, we go to get a beautiful sunset view at rice field. The violet color of sky and the sound of bird fly back to their nest seem appear on eyes that I never ever seen. A fresh air has gone through my nose and into my lung. A few minute, there is a farmer ride his ox cart from his farm go along that way comes back their home.

When the sun goes down into the back of mountain, we back to our house. In the evening, we enjoy eating Khmer food: Num Banh Chok, Kralan, palm juice and potatoes: D :D. It is so yummy. What I am notice at night it is my first time to see firefly in night and we enjoy the chitchatting at there nearly midnight. At midnight, I see a meteor by accidently in my second time in my life, and then I make a wish for the first time. 😀

In the next morning, we go to Sala Lek 5 village to join our ox-cart tours. We take a visit there and go to for forty five hours. Along road, Kampong Chhnang boasts of serene surroundings including the sugar palm-lined horizons.

We arrive this village and walk a head to the starting point. 3 ox-carts standing in line are waiting us, and this tour charge 4 USD per person for round trip ride and one oxcart can carry only 2 people. After we arrive, we come up ox-cart. A rider man says with smile to me “ your group is the first Khmer that do this tour since he start this business five year ago in Kampong Chnang“. Along way, ox cart goes through market where we can see all activities of people. Some people sell vegetable, fruits, daily-use products, fish, and snack. Some are chit-chatting each other and some are eating breakfast at food store. Then ox cart go through field where we can see the beauty of rice field along the road, birds fly on the sky, and farmers take care their rice field. A few minute we arrive the old pagoda where the national heritage name is Wat Kompong Tralach Ler. Kampong Chhnang is one of the well-known tourist destinations of the locality. We take off from ox-cart and walks around. The weather is good and cold because of around green trees. We can see one temple ( Vihear) which is really old and the wall of temple missed apart that make me feel sad. A little not far from that there is another old temple which is the national heritages temple of Cambodia. In this temple, the wall is painted by artist name Pal and Yuth in 1963. This painting is exactly same one in the Royal Palce in Phnom Penh. The picture shows the life cycle of god , people activity and some god stories. I am really impressed with this picture which bring me their special artist ability. This place has became an attraction of many tourist to visit there every day. After a short break, we ride an ox cart back.
This travel experience bring me really love this travel that I can see activity of daily life village, live like a local, too. A visit to Kampong Chhnang will be an unforgettable moment for me and my friends.
